Harvest Festival. Yesterday morning we decorated & nobody came to help us. We & Mrs Moore did it all, the Rector also came and helped & also gave advice but being an inartistic soul it was not worth much, but he made himself useful tieing [sic] up corn & Elizabeth helped him.
In the afternoon we drove into Lanson, M & I & Elizabeth in the hay cart. We started at 1.30 * we got home about 6.45. It is many a long day since we went into Launceston in this fashion but we quite enjoyed it & Philippa kept up the conversation the whole way without flagging once.
We bought presents for Elizabeth & things for Mrs Yole’s stall & had our hands full looking after Philippa, we saw quite a lot of people too – the B. M. (who accused Margaret publicly in the streets of Launceston of trying to murder his daughter) Mrs Tregonning, Mrs Oxley, Miss Gordon & Sophie Tregonning.
Well
