Journal Entry – Sunday June 13th 1915

Yest morning, Sister Ker Grey came to me whilst I was making beds & said I could have a night off. Very kind of her & especially was I glad of it as Father & Dorothea were both coming to spend the week end. Also I have had very little sleep this week during the day, one day never a wink all the time.

So off I rushed & after breakfast at the club with Marker, went to bed & slept until 2.30. Had tea with the Worthington’s in their garden & then went to the station, met old D & took her to the club. She had tea & we talked. She had her photo taken by Elzie. Most choice.

She had plenty of tales to tell of the doings of Dorothea Juliana. At 7, Mary turned up & soon after Father came. We dined together & the chief excitement was that Father was my guest. For the first time in my life I treated him to a meal, with my own private hard earned money.

Dorothea says that Ursula is very nervous about Zeppelins. She has bought 4 respirators & wonders how she will be able to get one onto baby. She also fills the bath at night so as to have plenty of water in case of fire.

We all had all but father has left London, he was very scornful of our fears. What was the use of worrying he said, if a bomb fell it fell & there was an end of the matter & so he continued to sleep at the top of his club in St James just as he always has done.

I came back here & slept & slept until 8.45 & feel much refreshed to day.

Nothing has come of that rumor about the Dardanelles & very little is said in the paper about what is going on there.
