Mary has gone homes for a weekend.
On Thursday I got a wire from Father to say that Frank & his family had arrived safely, and on Friday morning a letter came from good old Dorothea who found time to write & describe the children. Nicholas who is just as lovely as ever & Elizabeth much improved in looks. Both are very glad to get back to Kelly.
Life in the hospital has this week been just as usual, as the men are mostly convalescent the work has not been heavy. I have unfortunately had a streaming cold, one of the worst type, eyes and nose greatly afflicted. It caused me much inconvenience & the patients much amusement.
On Friday the Coodes came up to see the hospital & brought Maitland with them. He was fearfully overcome with awe & shyness, & looked very sweet in a little mauve coat. Joan brought the most lovely flowers, freesias & violets which were much appreciated by the men.
Mary & I wandered about with Joan & Mr Coode (who did not go to the hospital because he had a cold) & Maitland into the cathedral & Museum, until we hardly knew how to stand for weariness, but at 4 they had to go, so we both went to the Ladies Club where we had a rest & tea.
