Every guest is welcomed to Kelly with the offer of a cup of tea in the drawing room accompanied by home made cakes – always available on the Piano for midnight snacks too. After a night in one of our warm and comfortable beds, start the day with a full english breakfast, or your choice of other breakfast specials, cereals, fruits or even our guest favourite – kelly porridge!
Rooms all have full tea and coffee making facilities, including fresh milk and ‘proper’ ground coffee, television, free WiFi and state of the art under-carpet heating with dedicated thermostat. Power Showers either over baths or as a standalone unit can ease away the toils of the day and calm exercised muscles ready for a night of calm, away from the noise of traffic and city lights.
In addition, we are happy to provide all guests with a selection of glasses, wine coolers and most other essentials should they need them.
Our Reception Rooms were the reason the house was built, to host and entertain guests from near and far. They remain central to our home, and to your visit.
The Drawing Room
Watched over by our own Green Man, all our guests are welcome to use our Drawing room as their lounge during their stay at Kelly House. Guests are welcome to read from our drawing room library, consume their drinks in comfort, or simply watch the world go by through the windows overlooking the front lawn.
The room features a six foot mantelpiece for the fireplace, original oak floorboards and window seats for those who love the views!
This room, originally the grand entrance hall to the house, also provides access to the front terrace during warmer times, and guests are welcome to use this fantastic sun-trap to their own advantage too! Picnic blankets, chairs, tables and deckchairs are available on request.
The Dining Room
The perfect space in which to begin the day, our panelled dining room is the setting for breakfast and smaller private evening meals, with guests seated around our hand built dining table.
We are very happy for guests to bring take-away food back to the house, but ask that they eat larger meals in the Dining Room. We are naturally happy to provide cutlery, crockery and glasses on demand.
This room is also available for occasional private hire by our guests. For those wanting a private meal for more than 8-10 persons, or a personalised menu, we are also pleased to offer private banqueting in our 14th Century Tudor Kitchen.
Ongoing Restoration
Please note that we do have some minor ongoing restoration works. As we do not undertake this work while we have guests this will not disturb you during your stay, but there may be some evidence that things are improving week-by-week at kelly! Our current projects are in the Anteroom and the Eastern Wing.
